Harvey Stung By Yellowjackets

On Thursday September 8, 2005 during the first use of our new Craftsman Lawnmower,
I ran over a nest of yellowjackets, which resulted in many coming flying out, and attacking me.

I ran away from the nest, and swatted at the many on my clothes and arms.

I immediately went in to the house and took anti-histamines. I found that I'd been stung six times.

I put amonia on each of those,
all of which I could feel,
so that may have neutralized the stings.

Several more yellowjackets were on my clothes,
which we dispatched.

Gladys wisely had me sit in my blue chair,
and added ice-packs where the stings were.

The most serious is on the right side of my face.
My eye became nearly swollen shut,
and my lip is double-sized.

Note: This picture I took in the bathroom mirror,
so the sides are reversed;
my right side is on the right side of the picture.

This reaction seems less severe than one I had
years ago on Walker Road in Pennsylvania,
where my arm nearly doubled in size.

I kept an icepack on my eye even after going to bed.
It seems to have helped.

Now on Friday morning, I'm still swolen, my lip is raw inside, and the eye is still only half-open.
